Your Next Step: Wedding Videography
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to meet with us and sharing the vision for your wedding day. We are excited about the possibility of working with you to capture all the beautiful moments of your special day. Now that we’ve had our initial consultation, we want to ensure that you feel confident and informed about the next steps in the process.
1. Confirming Your Booking
After our consultation, the next step is to officially book your date. Here is a copy of our contract that outlines all the details of our agreement, including a place where you can select your desired services and their agreed-upon pricing. Once you’ve reviewed the contract, you can sign it (either physically or digitally) and send it to us at hello@prairiefilmco.com. Your retainer of $1,000 can then be e-transfered to the same email address, hello@prairiefilmco.com. Once we receive your contract and your retainer, we’ll send you back an email with your invoice, including taxes and retainer credit.
-
That’s no problem. Book the package that you think you want now and we can change it together in the weeks leading up to your wedding. If it's helpful, we can jump on another call to review package structure and details.
-
If you’re not quite ready to confirm—that’s okay. Just let us know! We’re happy to hold your date for a few days should you need a little more time.
-
We collect RST and GST.
2. Planning and Preparation
Once your date is secured you don’t have to think much about wedding videography until the month before your wedding. Approximately 4 weeks from your wedding we’ll send you a questionnaire to gather some more information about your wedding day schedule, important moments, and any special requests you may have. If you’re working with a wedding planner, we’ll often communicate with them instead and they can pass any need-to-know information onto you. We’ll make sure you have an updated copy of your invoice and we’ll be available to you for any and all questions you may have.
3. Your Wedding Day
On your wedding day, our goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible while capturing all the significant moments. Here’s how we’ll approach the day:
Arrival: We’ll arrive early to set up and get familiar with the location. We’ll touch base with you and your planner to ensure everything is on track.
Filming: We’ll start capturing events and b-roll as soon as we arrive. We will work discreetly to ensure we get the best shots without interrupting the flow of your day all the while communicating our content needs with you, your photographer, and your guests.
Communication: If anything unexpected happens or if you have any last-minute requests, don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re there to make sure your story is told.
-
It’s completely normal to feel a bit camera-shy. We are experienced in making you feel comfortable and natural. We focus on capturing candid moments, so you won’t feel like you’re constantly being filmed.
-
We always have a plan B for weather-related issues. Whether it’s finding indoor spots or having umbrellas handy, we’ll make sure your film looks amazing regardless of the weather.
-
Weddings can be full of surprises, and we’re adaptable. If anything changes, just let us know, and we’ll adjust our plans accordingly.
-
We work closely with you during the planning phase to identify all the key moments and people you want us to focus on. You will have the chance to let us know about special details on your information form. Communication is key, and we’ll make sure we’re fully prepared to capture everything important to you.
4. Post-Production
After your wedding, we’ll dive into the editing process to create your films. The films you can expect to receive are the ones detailed on your invoice. Here’s what you can expect from the post-production process.
Trailer Film: Within a week or two, we’ll provide a one minute trailer film that highlights some of the best moments from your day. Due to the quick turn around time, we’ll choose the music for this film. We’ll edit vertically and horizontally so you can share it on Instagram or TikTok if you wish!
Highlight Film: Your 4-6 minute Highlight Film is often the last film to be completed. Before we start the edit we’ll send you an email asking if you wanted any insight into music selection. Most of our couples leave music selection to us, but we’re always down to collaborate if you have a specific vision in mind. Our average turn around time for a Highlight Film is 3 months, and we’ve been really good at consistently delivering at or before that time frame. You’ll receive an online gallery link once your film ready to view.
Ceremony, Speech, Dance, Vow Films, etc.: All your other films will be delivered at the same time that your Highlight Film is complete. You’ll be able to view, browse, and share your digital gallery that we sent to your email.
We trust this gives you a little more insight into the wedding videography process. To confirm your booking, send your contract and retainer to hello@prairiefilmco.com. We look forward to connecting!
